Baked Chicken Tenders (Kid Chef Friendly)

  • Yield: 12 strips 1x


  • 5 cups corn flakes, rice krispies, or tortilla chips
  • 12 ea chicken strips
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose or gluten-free flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt (OMIT if using tortilla chips)
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder (OPTIONAL)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (OPTIONAL)


  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Place a wire rack in a rimmed baking sheet.
  3. Spray the rack with nonstick cooking spray
  4. Place the corn flakes or rice krispies in a large zip lock bag. If using tortilla chips, place in a food processor bowl.
  5. Crush or process the cereal or chips into a medium crumb. It will make about 3 cups
  6. Set up 3 shallow dishes or pie plates.
  7. Place flour in one dish, beaten egg in the second dish, and the cereal/chip crumb in the third dish.
  8. Working with one tender at a time, roll the chicken in the flour, then dip in the egg, and finally roll in the cereal/chips.
  9. Place the chicken on the prepared rack. Repeat for each chicken strip.
  10. Bake for 14-18 minutes until chicken internal temperature reaches 150-155 (final temp 165).
  11. Serve warm with ranch, marinara, or ketchup.
  12. Can be frozen in wax paper.
