Best Homemade Tartar Sauce

  • Yield: 12 Tbs 1x


  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 small dill pickle (chopped very small (or 3 Tbs dill relish))
  • 1 tbs fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbs capers (chopped OPTIONAL)
  • 1 tbs fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (up to 1 tsp according to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • to taste salt & pepper


  1. Combine the mayonnaise, pickles, lemon juice, capers, dill, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard in a small bowl and stir until well blended and creamy.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
  4. Cover and store in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Keep tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to one week.
