Mushroom Onion Sauce


  • Yield: 1 1/2 cups 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mushrooms of choice (thinly sliced)
  • 2-3 tbs avocado oil
  • 2 tbs tamari
  • 1/2 tsp dried sage (or 1 tsp fresh sage)
  • 2 cups onion (thinly sliced)
  • water
  • cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbs miso
  • to taste black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over high heat.
  2. Add onions and garlic and sauté until the onions are golden brown.
  3. Add the mushrooms, herbs, and miso and sauté until the mushrooms are soft and have lost most of their liquid.
  4. Add tamari and black pepper.
  5. In a separate measuring cup, mix cornstarch and water.
  6. Add to the mushroom mixture, stirring until thick.
