School Cafeteria Spaghetti

  • Yield: 4 servings 1x


  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 3 Tbs onion flakes (dehydrated)
  • 1 tbs oregano (dried)
  • 1 tbs basil (dried)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 15 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • 1/2 pkg spaghetti or linguini noodles


  1. Brown ground beef in a medium skillet over medium heat.
  2. Drain off the fat.
  3. Add the onion flakes, black pepper, basil, oregano, and garlic.
  4. Stir to combine with the meat.
  5. Add the crushed tomatoes and salt.
  6. Bring to a simmer and cook 15 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to the directions on the package.
  8. Drain the spaghetti but do not rinse.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  10. Place noodles in a large bowl.
  11. Add the sauce and most of the cheese and mix well.
  12. Transfer the pasta with sauce to a casserole dish and top with remaining cheese.
  13. Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  14. When cheese is bubbly, remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes for cheese to begin to brown.
