Cuban Pickled Onions


  • Yield: 1 cup 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 small red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 3 tbs red wine vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic (slightly crushed and chopped)
  • 1 pinch cumin (ground)
  • 1/2 tsp oregano (dried)
  • 1/8 tsp salt & black pepper
  • water

Instructions

  1. Place the onion in a small saucepan with enough water to cover.
  2. Bring to a boil and simmer for one minute.
  3. Drain and transfer to a small bowl.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
  5. Let stand at room temperature for at least one hour, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove garlic cloves prior to serving.
  7. Can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for up to one week
