Creamy Chocolate Pie


  • Yield: 8 slices 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 9" pie shell
  • 3 1 oz square chocolate (semisweet)
  • 1 14 oz can evaporated milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup heavy cream (Whipping cream)

Instructions

  1. In heavy pan, over medium heat, melt chocolate with evaporated milk and salt.
  2. Cook and stir until very thick and fudgy (about 5-8 minutes).
  3. Add water, cook, and stir until thickened and bubbly.
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  5. Cool 15 minutes.
  6. Chill thoroughly 20-30- minutes, then stir.
  7. In large mixer bowl, beat 1 cup whipping cream.
  8. Fold into cooled chocolate.
  9. Pour into pie shell.
  10. Chill 3 hours.
  11. Garnish with whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
