Harissa Sauce


  • Yield: 4 Tbs 1x

Description

This seasoning is very hot, so use sparingly. Keep refrigerated and this seasoning will last quite a while.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbs crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 medium tomato (peeled, seeded and chopped)
  • 1 clove garlic (peeled)
  • 1/2 tsp caraway seed
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • olive oil (as required)

Instructions

  1. In a blender or with a mortar and pestle, grind the pepper flakes finely.
  2. Add the garlic, spices, tomato, and salt.
  3. Mix until well blended.
  4. Scrape the mixture into a jar.
  5. Pour just enough olive oil to cover the mixture.
  6. Cover tightly and refrigerate until needed.
  7. Considering how hot the sauce is, this quantity should last for quite a while.
