Banana Nut Bread

Description

We often make this recipe in a small sheet pan which makes it more like a cake in texture


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup shortening or butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup mashed bananas ((about 2 bananas))
  • 1/2 + 1/4 cup walnuts (chopped)
  • 1/8 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a loaf pan with butter or shortening.
  3. Sprinkle sugar, flour, or cinnamon sugar into pan and coat the bottom and sides of the pan.
  4. Cream together butter, molasses, and honey.
  5. Add eggs and beat well.
  6. Sift together dry ingredients.
  7. Add the dry ingredients to wet mixture.
  8. Then add bananas.
  9. Stir in 1/2 cup nuts.
  10. Pour into the greased loaf pan.
  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  12. Allow to cool in the pan.
