Tamari Spiced Almonds

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups whole raw almonds
  • 1/4 cup tamari
  • juice 1/2 lemon
  • dash cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line sided baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Spread almonds on baking sheet in a single layer
  • Bake for 5-7 minutes, until fragrant
  • In small mixing bowl, combine tamari, lemon juice, and cayenne (if using)
  • Remove the almonds from the oven and sprinkle with the tamari mixture.
  • Stir and add tamari mixture until almonds are coated well. (there will be liquid under the almonds)
  • Return to the oven and bake until 7-8 minutes, stirring once
  • Turn the oven off and leave pan in the cooling oven until all the liquid is gone, about 10-12 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on a rack.
